Funding Opportunity: Bank of America’s Neighborhood Excellence Initiative

Here is a funding opportunity we wanted to share with all the members of HJN. Please think of any organizations or individuals you would like to nominate. The funding they provide can go a long way in helping our community members!

The following is a message sent from Bank of America:

The application deadline for the Neighborhood Excellence Builder and Local Hero awards is June 1, 2010.

Please pass the word on to interested associates and community leaders.

As you may know,  the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative® is the signature philanthropic initiative of the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

The program annually recognizes and encourages the many organizations and individuals making a positive impact in our community.  At Bank of America, we understand that the health and vitality of communities is integral to the long-term success of our business, and we deploy our philanthropic resources to help neighborhoods grow and prosper.  In particular during these challenging economic times, we are proud to recognize the significant efforts of organizations and individuals making a difference in the communities we serve.

I wanted to remind you that the Foundation is now accepting applications through June 1, 2010. We hope you will take a few minutes to read the program information attached. More importantly, we hope you will consider nominating a non-profit organization or individual who might be eligible for one of our 2010 awards.  You can also forward this message to associates, community leaders, or others who may be able to identify people interested in our efforts to create neighborhood excellence.

Since 2004, through the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, we have invested more than $110 million to recognize, nurture and reward organizations, local heroes and student leaders – in 45 of the bank’s markets.  For the Neighborhood Builders program, the award provides a $200,000 in general operating support grant funding and leadership training over two years to two neighborhood non-profit organizations working to promote vibrant neighborhoods.  For the Local Heroes, recipients are able to direct a $5,000 contribution to an eligible non-profit of their choice.

We’re committed to strengthening our community, neighborhood by neighborhood. To learn more about the initiative, local market priorities, or to apply online, please review the attached program description or visit:
