Community Hepatitis B Activities

Happy API Heritage Month, Hepatitis Awareness Month and Happy Hepatitis B Awareness Week!  We have many activities planned, and I wanted to keep you updated.  As you know, our big event is the Hep B Free Long Beach/South Bay kick-off, which is next Thursday, May 20 from 10am-12noon.  Please see the following Media Advisory and help disseminate widely to your media and community contacts.  I hope to see many of you at this event, and thank you for your participation.

Wednesday, May 19 Hepatitis B Advocacy in Action presentations at UC Irvine School of Medicine (12noon) and School of Nursing (2pm)

Viral Hepatitis Legislative Hearing (in Sacramento, hosted by CalHep and Assemblywoman Fiona Ma)

Our Advocacy committee has also taken the lead in making a number of Congressional visits to educate elected officials about Hepatitis B, as well as the Viral Hepatitis and Liver Cancer Prevention and Control Act of 2009.  Thanks to Jocelyn (jmedina@aphcv.org) , Scott Chan (schan@apalc.org) and Cecile (csebrio@aphcv.org)  for taking the lead on this.  If you would like to participate in a legislative visit with your Congressmember, please let them know, and they can help prepare you and get a legislative kit to you.
