How to Identify and Prevent Elder Abuse & Neglect: Protecting Older Adults in Ethnic Communities

Dear Friends of the MENTORS Project:

You are invited to the upcoming MENTORS Workshop, How to Identify and Prevent Elder Abuse & Neglect: Protecting Older Adults in Ethnic Communities on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 from 8:30AM – 12:30PM.   At the workshop, community experts will discuss how ethnic communities define elder abuse differently, non-conventional forms of mistreatment,  strategies used by scams to target seniors, how service providers can protect older adults, and we will learn how the City & County have responded to the changing face of elder abuse.

We are honored to be joined by the following speakers:  Dr. Ailee Moon, Ph.D, from UCLA School of Public Affairs, Robin Weinstein from the Office of the City Attorney, Linda J. Williams from Consumer Action, and representatives from L.A. County Adult Protective Services.

The MENTORS Workshop will be hosted by Young Nak Celebration Church in the Education Building at 1721 North Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90031.  Parking is available on Avenue 19 between Broadway and Pasadena Avenue in Parking Lot #4.
