It’s All Complementary: Alternative Medicine & Health Practices of Ethnic Older Adults

You’re invited to attend the first MENTORS Workshop of 2010, It’s All Complementary: Alternative Medicine & Health Practices of Ethnic Older Adults, on Thursday, January 21, 2010.  At this workshop, we will learn about Western and non-Western health practices complement each other; we will discuss how providers can recognize complementary practices used by ethnic seniors; and we will also discuss the complications or benefits to be aware of when using Western & alternative medicine simultaneously.  This workshop will be hosted in the Community Room at the Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC).  Read below or see the attached flier for more details.

This workshop is for L.A. County AAA Senior Service Providers who want to
improve their agency’s ability to serve culturally & ethnically diverse clients.

Our community experts will address:
How do Western & non-Western health practices complement each other?
What do providers need to know about alternative medicine & health practices?
Does addressing the needs of both body & spirit contribute to better health?
How can providers recognize complementary practices used by ethnic seniors?
Are there any potential complications or benefits to be aware of when
using Western & alternative medicine simultaneously?
