Invitation to Roundtable Discussion on Partnership Opportunities Between Housing Developers and Mental Health Providers
This is to invite you to a roundtable discussion on partnership opportunities between housing developers and mental health service providers. The purpose of the meeting will be for the Department to discuss its expectations of its providers in assisting their clients with housing and to begin the process of fostering new relationships, discussing the possibility of future partnerships, and developing a shared vision of the roles and responsibilities of service provision to tenants in Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH).
The roundtable discussion will take place on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 from 2:30-4:30PM, at Magnolia Place Conference Center, Johnson Auditorium, 1910 Magnolia Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90007. Free parking is available.
Over the past year, the Dept. of Mental Health (DMH) has been meeting with the Supportive Housing Alliance and other housing developers/advocates to discuss how we can encourage stronger relationships/partnerships between housing developers and mental health service providers. DMH recognizes the important role that PSH plays in meeting the housing needs of its consumers and that a key element to this model’s success is the availability of services that support individuals, even those with multiple barriers to housing, to remain successfully housed long term. Through many different capital development funding sources for PSH including the Mental Health Service Acts Housing Program, there are many partnership opportunities. DMH has been working to develop partnerships among our network of mental health service providers on a project specific basis but plans to take a more systematic approach during this meeting.
