The Challenge of Reframing Immigrant Issues in the Media: Training & Presentation of Best Practices & Messaging Toolkit

December 1st, 2009

The Underground Room, 600 N. Main St.

Santa Ana, CA 92701

9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Come join the California Immigrant Policy Center and Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice for an exciting day of messaging groundwork and help California lead the way in creating a more just and civil environment for our immigrant community!

In response to an overwhelming collective interest in beginning to work together to change the tide of our state’s immigration conversation, CIPC has developed a comprehensive training and toolkit of messages for advocates, allies and service providers working on immigrant issues.

Attendees will leave the day of communications training with the skills and tools needed to talk about issues with their communities and the media such as:

  • Immigrant access to health care and public benefits
  • Immigrants and the economic crisis facing California and the nation
  • Immigrant contributions as taxpayers and workers
  • Immigrant integration into California’s political, social and cultural life

As participants, you will also be part of a larger network of organizations – both regionally and statewide – dedicated to working collaboratively to counter anti-immigrant sentiment with positive and factual messages.
