Townhall: The State of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Mental Health in California

Assemblymember Mike Eng

Invites you to a Legislative town hall and call to action on

The State of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Mental Health in California

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

5:30 PM- 8:00 PM

USC Norris Research Tower: Aresty Auditorium

1450 Biggy Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033

This hearing will bring to light mental health issues that are most salient for the Asian

American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Community.  Contrary to

the model minority myth, AANHPIs have serious needs for mental

health care that have been inadequately addressed.

The hearing will involve testimony from mental health care experts, primary care service providers, patients, researchers, advocates, and community based organizations.

Co-sponsors: API Legislative Caucus, APIscan, A3PCON, Guam Communications Network, Health Justice Network, Kaiser Permanente, Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Alliance, Pacific Islander Health Partnership, Pacific Islander Festival Association, Samoan National Nurses Association, Tongan Community Service Center, and UC AAPIP MRP.
